Chapter 1 A New Chapter for Kuma Ramen

We’re thrilled to share an update on our new location and the journey that brought us here. After months of waiting, we can’t wait to serve you our finest ramen once again. This will be a long series, where we are sharing some insider info and behind the scenes.

Our extended closure was due to the severe flooding in July, which caused major damage to the concrete foundation beneath our space. A full restoration became necessary, and while navigating German bureaucracy was no small feat, we embraced this challenge as an opportunity to create something truly special.

The revitalized Markthalle Pfefferberg is about to reveal its new identity, featuring carefully selected vendors in a more cohesive and inviting atmosphere. We’re opening up the space, creating designated corners, and designing clearer pathways to make it more welcoming and easier to explore—a place where you’ll want to linger and discover.

For Kuma Ramen, this new chapter brings something we’ve always dreamed of: a proper ramen bar! Soon, a few lucky guests will be able to sit at our newly constructed stall—a front-row seat to watch us craft each bowl with care. It’s not just about food; it’s about connection. We’ll chat with you about our shared love for noodles (and maybe even some TED Talk-worthy topics).

Our new concept also means more flexibility for you. Core menu items like the beloved Triple Garlic Tonkotsu will always be available whenever that craving strikes. Specials will still keep things exciting but appear in a more balanced way so you can enjoy both consistency and creativity.

And yes, we’ll still shake things up with events like our Invite a Chef series or cultural celebrations featuring one-day-only menus. These moments of collaboration remain close to our hearts—they’re part of what makes Kuma Ramen unique.

As the Markthalle turns over a new leaf, we’re evolving alongside it. This isn’t just about ramen; it’s about creating a space where food brings people together in meaningful ways. We can’t wait to welcome you back and share this exciting new chapter with you!
